Economic Impact

For many communities, the economic impact of their local telecommunications company is a critical element to the community’s survival. In fact, the impact of this contribution extends beyond a vital economic impact to allowing smaller communities throughout South Carolina to continue to flourish and provide a true connection to other communities and businesses throughout the world.  SC Telco Alliance members contribute to the economy of their service territories by providing jobs, paying taxes and investing in infrastructure to support their telecommunications services.

Alliance Companies Impact Their Communities By:

  • Employing more than 2,500 South Carolina residents
  • Paying approximately $143 million in wages each year
  • Paying more than $20 million in state taxes annually
  • Investing over $1.6 billion in their networks (almost $100 million in 2005 alone)
