• The Comporium Group of telephone companies has made life easier for customers in York and Lancaster counties for more than 100 years.
• Comporium continues to study technological advances around the world and to evaluate the potential for its customers to ensure that they are prepared for the future.
• As a local company, Comporium fosters a corporate culture of social responsibility within the communities it serves.
• In addition to generous, monetary contributions, Comporium’s employees also donate their time to assist in numerous community projects.
A recent major activity was a renovation project inspired by the television show, “Extreme Home Makeover,” that involved 160 volunteers at a local institution serving children with severe emotional problems.
Comporium offers a broad range of products and services, including local and long-distance telephone, wireless, cable TV, Internet, security, data services and directory publishing to its residential and business customers.
Comporium has always been committed to its customers by providing them with the most state-of-the-art telecommunication services. In the 1960s Comporium was one of the first companies in the nation to provide cable TV service; in the 1990s it was one of the first companies in SC to offer Internet service; and currently, it is one of the first companies in the nation to provide fiber optic cable to customers’ homes. Comporium continues to study technological advances around the world and to evaluate the potential for its customers to ensure that they are prepared for the future.
Comporium is the nation’s 17th largest incumbent local telephone company, but prides itself on being nimble and creative. When new telecommunication competition began moving into Comporium’s territory, Comporium decided to team up with local home builders and realtors to develop its customer-focused, Home Integration program. The program involves Comporium pre-wiring new homes, contacting home buyers to assess their telecommunication needs and then offering its services with a guarantee that everything will be up and running by move-in day. This level of customer service is unmatched by the competition.
Comporium’s commitment to the community is also shown through its charitable donations and its employees’ volunteer efforts. Last year Comporium gave more than $365,000 in community donations; as well as, provided surplus vehicles and equipment to non-profit organizations and provided other in-kind services. Some of these gifts included the donation of six, retired work vehicles to local charities and to the SC School for the Deaf and Blind. In addition to funding, many of Comporium’s employees also donated their time to assist in fundraisers for charities, blood drives and local civic groups’ events.
Whether it’s providing the latest and best telecommunication services, superior customer assistance or charitable donations and projects, Comporium will certainly make life easier for its customers throughout the next 100 years.
