Home Telephone, now doing business as Home, is an independent telecommunications company located in Moncks Corner, South Carolina and serves the majority of Berkeley County (an area the size of Rhode Island) and the Harleyville area of Dorchester County. Home is an integrated communications provider utilizing a variety of technologies driven by an all-digital central office to deliver local and long distance telephone, high-speed Internet, cable TV services, wireless and security equipment and services.
Home began service in 1904 with a network of six telephones. Since that time, Home has been dedicated to serving the local community through reliable service and the latest technology. However, the people at Home believe there’s much more to serving a community than just technology. Each year, Home donates thousand of dollars to local charities including little league teams, public and private schools, scholarships, senior citizens and local chapters of national non-profits. Home provides a high-speed Internet option to 97% of their service territory; even in some of the most rural areas. Home donates computers, wireless routers and high-speed Internet to rural libraries to enrich the lives of our customers living in rural areas that may have no other Internet access opportunity.
Beyond Home’s corporate contributions, its employees also foster a spirit of community involvement through volunteerism. Home’s employees volunteer for a variety of causes such as the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, Junior Achievement and coaching local sports teams. Home’s commitment to technology is apparent as it serves over 24,000 access lines and was one of the first companies in the nation to provide Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH.) Home now has 24 FTTH neighborhoods allowing for bandwidth that will far exceed the customers’ triple play needs well into the future.
