Horry Telephone Cooperative has been helping to build a better community in Horry County for over 50 years. In 1952, HTC began with a mission of bringing telephone service into rural Horry County homes and businesses, and now HTC is the nation’s largest telephone cooperative and 25th largest telephone company.

HTC offers a full menu of communication services, including local phone, HTLD long distance, HTC Horizon Digital Wireless, HTC Digital Cable, HTC NetRacer High-Speed Internet Access for residential subscribers. The Cooperative also provides a full range of business products starting with basic voice service and equipment, including multi-megabit data connections and advanced Business Services such as Remote Data Storage and Recovery Services, Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) design, firewall and Virtual Private Network (VPN) security.

Early in 2008, HTC connected the community to the world as the Official Communications Provider for the SC Republican Party Presidential Primary Debates and the Congressional Black Caucus Institute Democratic Presidential Primary Debates. HTC provided expanded data services via fiber optic cable and wireless infrastructure to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center for the Republican debate and essentially re-wired The Palace Theater and a nearby restaurant serving as the media center for the Democratic Debates.

HTC is dedicated to connecting the families, neighbors and businesses within its community. The Cooperative now serves over 92,000 access lines with state-of-the art equipment and services. In 2004, HTC was the first communications provider to bring fiber to the home technology to Horry County in greenfield (new) developments. In 2007, HTC laid over 300 miles of fiber optic cable, providing the capability for fiber based services to over 5,000 existing homes in the community.

As technology advances, HTC works hard to keep its customers up to date by conducting monthly introductory and intermediate level Internet classes, providing NetRacer high-speed demonstration stations for customer viewing at all nine HTC locations. HTC also provides a monthly e-newsletter with educational tips and technical updates for internet subscribers.

Every day HTC and its employees enrich the lives of thousands of area citizens. Education is a top priority for HTC. Whether donating school supplies, providing educational resources and programs, reading to children or recognizing students who are making remarkable achievements, HTC is helping improve local public schools. Each year HTC gives more than $200,000 in charitable donations to meet community needs. Employees also offer countless hours volunteering within the community with groups such as the Kiwanis Club of Conway, Lions Club of Conway, Rotary Club of Myrtle Beach and the YMCA. In addition to time, HTC employees contributed over $40,000.00 directly to the United Way, American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.

By remaining committed to community development and providing the best products and services possible, HTC is helping to build a better community.
